United to Lead, to Promote, to Secure, and to Defend

Registration for the 2021 National Coordinated Bargaining Council (CBC) is now open!  We are excited to have this event once again in person and strongly urge you and your affiliate’s bargaining chair to attend.  If either of you cannot attend, we encourage your affiliate to send an officer in your place.  The National CBC will be composed of 3 segments, all of which are designed to strengthen our affiliates and our national bargaining position.

We will open Friday morning with the National General Session, where we’ll discuss a number of topics including the adoption of the National Goals & Standards for Paid Parental Leave as well as a better way to “grade” our contracts relative to the NSO Bargaining Goals & Standards and a few other important topics.  In the afternoon, there will be three concise training sessions that participants will rotate through.  Those will focus on Writing Enforceable Contract Language, Ensuring a Better Bargain: The Role of Organizing in the Bargaining Process, and The Dos and Don’ts of Bargaining Pensions (DB & DC both).

Saturday will be devoted to each regional CBC holding their meetings, which will include reporting out what the bargaining landscape looks like in each affiliate as well as discussion and strategizing around both some common agenda items (e.g., vaccine mandates & remote work) as well as hot topics you may bring as participants.

We hope that this National CBC event in Chicago at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare/Rosemont will be a meaningful event that will benefit you, your affiliate, and your NSO brothers & sisters.  As a reminder, NSO will pay for one night of hotel to encourage attendance and will provide breakfast for all attendees both Friday & Saturday.  Please register by October 21, 2021.   We have built in the registration for hotel accommodations, we look forward to seeing you there!  You may register online at  https://cvent.me/7yGQY9

If you should have any questions, please feel free to contact John Avouris, NSO Vice President for Program or Dawn Basurto, Secretary.
