NSO’s 2018 Winter Advocacy “United to Meet Our Challenges and Opportunities” kicked off to a great start on Thursday morning. Over 350 NSO members showed up ready to attend sessions so they can gain knowledge and skills to take back home to their staff union. 15 new sessions were added to the session series this year at WAR geared toward the needs of our staff unions. Neuroscience at Bargaining, Not Your Grandpa’s Union, Gripes Not Grievances and Affordable Care Act are just some of the trainings that are new this year. The amount of new faces that are at WAR is exhilarating to see. Talking with different staff unions across the country they were very intentional on bringing new staffers to experience NSO and be prepared to leadership roles in their staff unions.
President Brad Darjean stated “WAR is NSO’s signature event where we get the opportunity to share and be trained by our peers. I am very excited to see lots of new faces this year. WAR shows our commitment and how much we value the face to face based interaction and training.”
