President Brad Darjean announces vacancies on the NSO Communications Committee. This committee develops and maintains structures for internal and external NSO communications.
ESSENTIAL COMMITTEE FUNCTIONS
- Produce content for the NSO Contact newsletter;
- Manage NSO’s social media platforms;
- Keep the NSO website updated and user-friendly;
- Provide on-site media coverage for NSO’s major events, including the Winter Advocacy Retreat, Representative Assembly, and Coordinated Bargaining Councils;
- Participate in designing and delivering communications training programs;
- Assist affiliates with crisis communications;
- Contribute to NSO’s long-term strategic communications plan.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
- Enthusiasm for creating engaging content;
- Strong writing skills;
- Experience in video production, video editing, graphic design, and/or web design.
REQUIREMENTS
- Active NSO member in good standing;
- Attend 1-2 in-person committee meetings per year and virtual meetings as needed;
- Contribute to off-line work outside of official committee meetings throughout the year;
- Work collaboratively in a supportive, volunteer-driven environment;
- Be self-motivated and comfortable meeting deadlines;
- Eagerness to learn new skills and teach one’s skills to others;
- Work with union siblings from across the country to advance NSO’s mission.
