There is a vacancy on the NSO Executive Committee, specifically for an At-Large Director – Professional.
Applicants must be a professional staff member of an affiliate in good standing to be considered for appointment to the vacant seat. The person selected would serve from the date of appointment to the end of the 2025 NSO RA.
What does an At-Large Executive Committee Member do?
- May be asked to assist in any/all regions as necessary; co-chairs a Coordinator Bargaining Council (CBC) as assigned by President/Executive Committee; may chair/co-chair or act as liaison to standing and/or special committees such as Research, Special Services, etc.
- Works with the appropriate Vice President to assist affiliates in training, bargaining assistance, crisis investigations, grievance/arbitration assistance, internal dispute resolutions, or other matters as assigned. Provides quarterly reports to the Executive Committee on their work on behalf of NSO members.
- Responsible for monthly updates of NSO websites and working with vendors to ensure the security and accessibility of our websites. Works with local affiliate officers on access to and ensuring updated records on the NSO membership site. Oversees the monthly update of the NSO research database.
- Attends a minimum of four Executive Committee meetings (four days including travel), one Representative Assembly (five days including travel), CBC meetings (as determined by CBC), Research or Special Services committee as assigned (two days including travel), and the Winter Advocacy Retreat (WAR). Upon request, provides on-site advocacy and training assistance to affiliates.
- Weekly time commitment: Approximately 4-6 hours
- Minimum annual leave time: Approximately 18-22 days (not including on-site assistance)
