United to Lead, to Promote, to Secure, and to Defend

The National Staff Organization stands in solidarity with NEASO members and their ULP strike.

The National Education Association’s refusal to address critical concerns regarding overtime pay and the NEA’s decision to outsource more than $50 million worth of work is a grave violation of union principles and worker rights.

The NEA’s actions betray the trust and integrity of our union values and blatantly disregard the dedicated staff who are instrumental to NEA’s success.

NEA’s achievements on behalf of its 3 million members relies on the work of National Education Association Staff Organization members.

NEASO members are proud of their contributions to NEA’s mission. They did not take the decision to strike lightly, especially when NEA members traveled from across the country to participate in the NEA Representative Assembly.

NEA management shared NEASO’s average salary but did not disclose that salary steps have been frozen for nearly a decade.

NEA compared NEASO salaries to those of educators and ESPs nationally, but ignored the fact that the overwhelming majority of NEASO members live in the DC Metro Area where the cost of living is 40% higher than the national average and many NEASO members   work second jobs or receive public food assistance.

NEASO members have amassed over 64,000 “comp hours” in the last four years, equivalent to 36 years of work, proving their dedication and service in support of NEA’s mission and its members.

“I urge all NSO members to support NEASO’s efforts. NEA members must demonstrate their commitment to union principles by not crossing any picket line, physical or virtual, “said NSO president Brad Darjean. “I demand that NEA leadership settle this contract immediately and let NEASO members get back to work for NEA members.”

The National Staff Organization remains steadfast in its support for NEASO and will continue to champion justice, fairness, and solidarity.
