NSO is excited to introduce the Organizing Resource Group (ORG) Scholarship, aimed at providing opportunities for NSO members from small affiliates to attend the 2024 NSO Winter Advocacy Retreat (WAR) College.
The Organizing Resource Group (ORG) was a dedicated collective of union staff members from across the nation who supported and enriched the work of NSO over the course of several decades. Through various initiatives and a regular newsletter, ORG facilitated knowledge sharing, tactics exchange, and vibrant discussions that significantly enhanced the services provided to NEA-affiliated associations. As a parting gesture, ORG has generously donated nearly $10,000 to establish scholarships for NSO members, enabling them to participate in the 2024 NSO Winter Advocacy Retreat, which will be held from January 11-13, 2024 in Sarasota, FL.
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must be an active NSO member from a small affiliate and planning to attend 2024 WAR College as a first-time attendee.
The ORG Scholarship will cover expenses for four (4) nights of lodging at the conference hotel, including all applicable taxes and fees. These expenses will be directly billed to NSO at the conclusion of the event. Scholarship recipients are required to commit to attend for the entire conference and will be responsible to cover additional costs associate with attendance such as transportation and meals. The recipients will also be required to participate in an interview with a member of the NSO Communications Committee while at WAR College.
Interested individuals who meet the scholarship criteria can apply by going to: http://bit.ly/org-war-scholarship. The application deadline is October 20, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. EDT. Applicants will receive notifications regarding their scholarship status on October 22, 2023.
